Cityplus collaborated with PolyU this year to develop some street furniture that make changes to our city. The ideas we received from the design students impress us a lot, some of them redefine the usage of traditional street furniture, some of them grad the changing behaviors of people and provide insightful solution. We have picked some excellent works to be prototyped in our production line. They are in the final stage of fabrication at the moment! We are looking forward to seeing these prototyping in PolyU Design Annual Show 2016.

Furniture Name : Border Chair - Fence and Chair

Designer : LI Kai Wai, ‪‎PolyU‬ Design

Year : 2015/16

Objective :"i was looking for some of the untapped public area and try to design a public facilities to ensure that more valuable public area can be used. This is very important for Hong Kong which is in terms of scarcity of land..." Li tried to re-think the purpose of fence in public area and transform the fence into two different functions (definition) : limiting access (isolation) and providing seat (interaction).
